The Best of the Best!!!
July 30, 2008 · 1 Comment
NEWS RELEASE – GRAPHICS ATTACHED + PHOTO OF HADDONFIELD COMMISSIONERS WITH “BEST” SIGN: from left, Borough of Haddonfield Commissioners Ed Borden, (Mayor) Tish Colombi, and Neal Rochford.
Two local magazines have fresh-picked The Haddonfield Farmers Market as “the best” in their July issues.
South Jersey Magazine named the Haddonfield Farmers Market as “The Best of the Best,” in the category of “Downtown Farmers’ Market,” calling it an “extraordinary fresh food experience… as friendly and welcoming as a family picnic.”
SJ Magazine named the Haddonfield Farmers Market as “ Best Way to Go Green” in its 8th Annual Best of SJ 2008 awards, saying, “What better way to support the environment and our local farmers than to shop regularly at a community farmers market. Look for fresh vegetables, breads… Make sure to bring your own bag to completely eco-friendly.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! And those eco-friendly bags can be purchased at the Haddonfield Farmers Market, which is open every Saturday through October 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon, at the parking lot on Chestnut Street, just off Kings Highway in downtown pedestrian-friendly Haddonfield (about halfway between the PATCO Speedline station and Haddon Avenue).
Offerings include fresh Jersey corn, blueberries, peaches and other fruits, exotic mushrooms from Kennett Square , a wide variety of greens including spinach, arugula, mustard greens and lettuces, melons, peppers and eggplants, organic heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans and fresh herbs. Farm-fresh natural brown and speckled eggs, Amish cheese, and frozen packages of grass-fed beef and heritage pork are offered by a rancher from Central Pennsylvania ; and fresh-cut organic flowers will beautify your home. The market also offers ready-made foods to go, including wraps and “turnpike tarts (100% NJ ingredients), Asian/fusion summer rolls, fresh and healthy juices, Thai iced coffees and teas, sweets, quiches, and delicious French and other specialty breads and pastries. Plus – each week there is a different crafter and a different non-profit community group featured.
Admission is free; there are 2 playgrounds right next door for the kids, and plenty of free parking. Now in its second year, the Haddonfield Farmers Market is a non-profit community venture created and run by neighborhood volunteers. For more information, visit www.haddonfieldfarmersmarket.org.
